The new-gen 2020 Honda City is expected to go on sale in the coming few weeks once the nationwide lockdown is lifted in India. The features and specifications of the new sedan are already out in public domain. Now, it has been learnt that the 2020 new-gen Honda City will debut an all-new petrol engine while the diesel engine will be carried over from the current model. The all-new sedan will take on the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Yaris and Skoda Rapid in the Indian market.

The India-spec City sedan will not be powered by the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine which comes with the Thailand model. 2020 Honda City engine churns out a top power of 122bhp. The Japanese automaker will equip the all-new sedan with a naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engine with displacement of 1498cc. Being codenamed as L15B, the new engine comprises of highly sophisticated hardware and electronics to ensure broader spread of power. This engine will come with a twin-cam or Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) valve gear, which is never-seen-before with the City sedan. The company decided to opt for DOHC arrangement in order to comply with the more stringent BS6 emission norms as the twin-cam setup provides better control over valve timing and valve lift.
